How to measure your Turkish vocabulary and understand your test result
The number at the end of the test is a guide for further study, not an exact count of every word you know. Here is how the site currently works, what it checks and why the estimate needs careful interpretation.
What the task actually checks
Each question shows a Turkish word and asks you to enter its translation in your chosen language. This checks recognition of meaning and recall without a hint. It does not show how fluently you speak, understand fast speech or build sentences with suffixes.
Read a high score as “I recalled the translations of many words in this sample.” That can be a reason to try harder reading or speaking practice, but it does not establish your language level.
Where the questions come from
The current bank contains 100 unique words: 20 in each of five approximate frequency bands. The figures 1,000, 3,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 in the interface define the estimation scale. They do not mean that the test contains 20,000 words.
Questions are chosen randomly, so two attempts may contain different words from the same band. A word from a recent lesson, a forgotten meaning or an accepted synonym can noticeably affect a small sample.
Choosing a mode

Do not treat the maximum scores of different modes as the same examination: their lengths and coverage differ. To track change, use the same mode under similar conditions.
How the estimate is calculated
For each band, the site applies your proportion of correct answers to its assumed size. For example, 6 correct answers out of 10 in the band ending at 3,000 contribute about 60% of the range 1,001–3,000, or roughly 1,200 words. Contributions from all tested bands are then added.
Why a reasonable translation may be rejected
The checker compares your answer with a list of accepted translations. It may reject a less common synonym, another shade of meaning, a typo or a translation that fits a different context. This does not prove you do not know the word. Keep a note and check a dictionary: it may reveal another meaning.

Common questions
Does the bank really contain 20,000 words?
No. It currently contains 100 words. The figure 20,000 is the upper assumed limit of the advanced-mode scale.
Why does my result change when I repeat the test?
The test randomly selects words from the bands. A small sample is sensitive to the particular questions and your familiarity with them.
Can the result establish A1, B1 or B2?
No. A level also involves reading, listening, writing and speaking. This test only offers guidance on recognised vocabulary.
