Turkish hotel phrases: check-in, breakfast and room problems

At reception, name your reservation and ask one question at a time. A few clear Turkish phrases can help you check the details of a stay and describe a practical problem. This guide teaches language; it does not describe the policies of any hotel.

Introduce your booking

Deniz is an example name. Replace it with your own in Adım … . Rezervasyonum contains the meaning my reservation; you do not need to add a separate possessive word for this basic sentence. Keep the booking details available if the receptionist needs to check them.

Ask about the stay

TurkishMeaning or use
Kahvaltı saat kaçta?What time is breakfast?
Kahvaltı fiyata dahil mi?Is breakfast included in the price?
Çıkış saati kaç?What is the check-out time?
Wi-Fi şifresi nedir?What is the Wi-Fi password?

Saat kaçta asks at what time something happens. An answer such as saat sekizde means at eight. Ask whether breakfast is included instead of assuming that the meal and the room have the same conditions.

Find the room

TurkishMeaning or use
odaroom
anahtarkey
katfloor
asansörlift / elevator
Odam hangi katta?Which floor is my room on?
Asansör nerede?Where is the lift?

Listen for the floor and room number separately. If you are unsure, repeat the number or ask the receptionist to write it down. Recognising a word on a vocabulary card is different from catching a number in a busy lobby.

Describe a problem

Yok states that something is absent. Çalışmıyor says that something is not working. They solve different problems, so do not replace every English not with one Turkish word. State the specific issue before asking for help.

Try it without the translation

You have a reservation, want to ask the breakfast time and need another towel. Produce three separate sentences.

Answers and explanation

Rezervasyonum var. Kahvaltı saat kaçta? Bir havlu daha alabilir miyim? Daha contributes the meaning another or more in the towel request.

Keep practising

Practise turning recognised words into spoken requests. Then try the vocabulary self-check if you want a broader reference point. Its questions are drawn from a small general word bank, so it is not a test of this lesson or a measure of your speaking level.

Common questions

Can I use çalışmıyor for an unavailable item?

It normally describes something not working or someone not working, depending on context. Use yok to say that an item is absent.

Are check-in and breakfast times fixed?

No. Ask the accommodation about its own current arrangements.

Check your vocabulary

Translate a selection of Turkish words to get a rough estimate of your vocabulary. The test does not establish an A1–C2 level or replace an examination.
